  • Bonnell Series Soil. The Bonnell series consists of very deep, well drained soils that formed in 0 to 18 inches of loess or loamy materials, and the underlying glacial till. They are moderately slowly permeable. These soils are on dissected till plains, and have slopes ranging from 6 to 60 percent. Mean annual temperature is about 54 degrees F, and mean annual precipitation is about 42 inches.

  • I have had the good fortune to track down Mary Bonnell Chilcote, the daughter of Caroline Bonnell. Mary has all of her mother's scrap books, which contain newspaper clippings with interviews with the press that Caroline gave just after the disaster. Sublette IL has declared Grandma Bonnell Day a civic holiday in her honor. One of the subdivisions of the town is the Bonnell Subdivision and has all of the streets named after her children.
